Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Very powerful book about man's descent into madness. When men of dubious nature are hired to clear the land of Apaches through genocide, the moral decay blinds them to all assumed boundaries, where Apache is no longer the restricted zone for murder. Written in a rugged prose, this story is a challenge to read and Cormac forces the reader to shallow this one slowly. His lack of punctuation requires one to reread sentences and paragraphs more than once drowning the reader in the horror of this crusade. A powerful read, with a powerful message...we are no longer in a world where heroes travel to foreign lands and conquer them. Cormac bring the bloody reality of that moral decay home. A must read.
